Upright MONUMENTS

Upright Monuments

Monuments are an upright memorial. Essentially, a monument consists of two granite pieces. One piece serves as the base while the other rests on it vertically and contains the engraving, called the tablet. This monument rests on a granite foundation, which we provide free of charge to the families. We have quite a large variety of upright monuments, whether you want traditional, or you want us to design and create just about any shape you can think of.

Upright monuments are one of the most individualized ways to memorialize your loved one. This is where Minnesota Memorials really shines! Most components of a memorial can be customized, including the shape of the granite, adding or including figures, and nearly anything else you can imagine. Don't worry, it's not as overwhelming as you think-we will walk you through the process by asking some questions, and will come up with something beautiful for you and your family.

Sizing

The overall size of a memorial is limited only by budget and the rules and regulations of the cemetery. Memorials also cannot be larger than the burial space; a standard burial space is 4 feet wide and a two-grave lot is typically 8 feet wide.

For individual upright memorials, the most common and standard size is 24” L x 6” W x 20”H but can be made larger or smaller.

For companion upright memorials, the most common and standard size is 36” L x 6” W x 20” H. Companion memorials can range in size more broadly than individual memorials and lend themselves to creative use of the burial space.
